[이슈밸리=권동혁 기자] 3개월 만에 잠행을 깬 윤석열 전 검찰총장의 남산 공식 외출에 미디어의 관심이 집중됐지만 윤 전 총장은 “기다려 달라”는 모호한 답변을 남겼다.
윤 전 총장은 9일 오후 서울 중구 남산예장공원에서 열린 우당 이회영 기념관 개관식에 참석했다.
이날 윤 전 총장은 지난 3월 검찰총장직을 내려놓은 후 공식 석상에서 언론과 가진 사실상의 첫 공식 모습이다.
윤 전 총장은 국민의힘 입당 계획에 대한 기자들 질문에 "제가 아직 오늘 처음으로 나타났는데 제가 걸어가는 길을 보시면 잘 아시게 되지 않겠나 생각한다"라고 즉답을 피했다.
이어 윤 전 총장은 대권 도전과 관련한 기자들의 질문에 "국민의 기대와 염려를 제가 다 경청하고 알고 있다. 지켜봐주기를 부탁드린다"라고 말했다.
윤 전 총장은 '장모가 10원 한장 남에게 피해준 것이 없다'는 발언, 향후 정치 일정, 김종인 전 국민의힘 비상대책위원장과의 관계 등에 대한 질문에는 답하지 않았다.
이 자리에는 윤 전 총장의 지지자 수십명이 몰려들어 '대통령 윤석열'을 연호하기도 했다.
윤 전 총장은 "항일 무장투쟁을 펼친 우당 (이회영) 선생의 형제 중에 살아서 귀국하신 분은 다섯째 이시영 선생이다. 우당과 그 가족의 삶은 곤혹한 망국의 상황에서 노블레스 오블리주를 생생하게 상징한다"며 "한 나라가 어떤 인물을 배출하느냐와 함께 어떤 인물을 기억하느냐에 의해 그 존재가 드러난다. 그래서 오늘 이 우당 선생 기념관 개관이 아주 뜻깊고 대단히 반가운 일이라고 생각한다"라고 말했다.
우당 이회영은 일제 강점기 독립운동가로 신민회 창립 멤버였다. 만주에서 신흥무관학교를 설립해 독립군 양성과 군자금 모금 활동을 했다. 독립운동가이자 초대 부통령인 이시영의 넷째 형이다.

Former president Yoon attended the opening ceremony of the Udang Lee Hoe-young Memorial Hall held at Namsan Yejang Park in Jung-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 9th.
On this day, Yoon is the first de facto official appearance with the media in public since he resigned as prosecutor general in March.
Asked by reporters about the plan to join the People's Power Party, Yoon avoided an immediate answer, saying, "I'm still here for the first time today, and I think you'll know well if you look at my path."
When asked by reporters about his presidential bid, Yoon said, "I listen and know all the expectations and concerns of the people. I ask you to keep an eye on me.
The former president Yoon did not answer questions about his remarks that "his mother-in-law did not harm others with a single 10-won bill," future political schedules, and his relationship with Kim Jong-in, the former head of the People's Power Emergency Response Committee.
Dozens of former president Yoon's supporters gathered at the meeting to chant "President Yoon Seok-yeol."
"Among the brothers of Udang (Lee Hoe-young), who fought against Japan, Lee Si-young, the fifth person to return home alive is Lee Si-young. "The life of Udang and his family vividly symbolizes Noblesse oblige in a difficult situation of ruin," he said. "The existence is revealed by what kind of person a country produces and what kind of person it remembers." So I think the opening of the Udang Memorial Hall today is very meaningful and very welcome."
Udang Yi Hoe-yeong with the Japanese occupation activist, was a member of the New People's Association. He established Shinheung Military Academy in Manchuria to train independence forces and raise funds for the military. He is the fourth brother of independence activist and first vice president Lee Si-young.
