[이슈밸리=박지영 기자] 삼성전자가 미국 환경청(Environmental Protection Agency, EPA)이 주관하는 ‘2020 에너지스타상(ENERGY STAR Award)’에서 에너지 고효율 제품 확대와 에너지 저감 활동의 공로를 인정받아 최고상인 ‘지속가능 최우수상(Sustained Excellence Award)’을 수상했다고 밝혔다.
‘에너지스타상’은 미국 정부가 환경·에너지 분야의 약 2만개 기업과 단체를 대상으로 에너지스타 인증 활용, 대외홍보, 마케팅 우수활동을 평가해 수여하는 상이다.
삼성전자는 에너지스타 인증모델 중에서 에너지 절감 효과가 가장 뛰어난 제품에 부여되는 에너지스타 ‘최고효율(Most Efficient)’ 등급을 지속 확대하고 있다. 2019년에는 33개 모델에 대해 ‘최고효율’ 등급을 받았다.
또 삼성전자는 에너지 고효율 제품에 대한 중요성을 대외적으로 알리기 위해 적극 노력하고 있다.
삼성전자 미국 홈페이지에서는 소비자들이 에너지 고효율 제품을 쉽게 알아보고 찾을 수 있도록 제품 소개 페이지에 에너지스타 취득 여부를 제공함은 물론 별도 필터링 기능을 제공해 해당 제품을 쉽게 찾을 수 있게 했다. 소비자는 이를 통해 에너지 고효율 제품을 보다 쉽게 구매할 수 있고 해당 제품을 사용하면서 에너지를 절약할 수 있다.
삼성전자는 앞으로도 에너지 저감 노력뿐만 아니라 글로벌 트렌드에 맞춰 자원순환, 친환경소재 사용 등 환경 전반을 고려한 친환경 제품 개발 활동을 지속하겠다고 밝혔다.
한편 삼성전자는 한국에너지공단에서 3월 23일부터 시행하고 있는 ‘으뜸효율 가전제품 구매비용 환급사업’에 맞춰 소비자들이 고효율 삼성 가전제품을 보다 경제적으로 구매할 수 있도록 별도의 혜택을 마련했다.
삼성전자가 제공하는 최대 70만원 상당의 특별 포인트에 으뜸효율 가전제품 환급 비용 한도인 30만원까지 포함하면 소비자는 최대 100만원 상당의 혜택을 받을 수 있다. 또 환급 해당 품목은 아니지만 국내 유일 에너지소비효율 1등급 건조기 ‘삼성 그랑데 AI’에 대해서도 12만원 상당의 특별 할인 혜택을 제공한다.
Samsung Electronics said it won the "Sustained Excellence Award," the highest award in recognition of its efforts to expand energy-efficient products and reduce energy consumption, at the "2020 Energy Star Award" organized by the Environmental Protection Agency of the U.S.
The "Energy Star Award" is an award given by the U.S. government to about 20,000 companies and organizations in the environmental and energy sectors by evaluating their use of energy star certification, public relations and marketing excellence.
Samsung Electronics continues to expand its "Most Efficient" rating, which is given to the most energy-saving products among its energy star certification models. In 2019, the company received the "highest efficiency" rating for 33 models.
In addition, Samsung Electronics is actively trying to publicize the importance of energy-efficient products to the public.
Samsung Electronics' website in the U.S. not only provides whether to acquire an energy star in the product introduction page, but also provides a separate filtering function so that consumers can easily find and find energy-efficient products. This makes it easier for consumers to purchase energy-efficient products and save energy while using them.
Samsung Electronics said that it will continue to develop eco-friendly products considering not only energy-saving efforts but also environment-wide environment such as resource circulation and use of eco-friendly materials in line with global trends.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics has set aside separate benefits to allow consumers to buy high-efficiency Samsung home appliances more economically in line with the Korea Energy Corporation's "supreme-efficient home appliance purchase-refund project" that has been in effect since March 23.
If up to 700,000 won worth of special points provided by Samsung Electronics is included in the cost limit of 300,000 won for the refund of top-efficiency home appliances, consumers can receive benefits worth up to 1 million won. The company will also offer special discounts worth 120,000 won for "Samsung Grande AI," the only energy consumption efficiency first-class dryer in Korea, although it is not eligible for refunds.
